Ascot Vale Progress Kindergarten’s vision for reconciliation is one where First Nations peoples’ histories, cultures and rights are respected, valued and acknowledged. We seek to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and value and recognise the great strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the oldest living cultures on the planet. We strive to nurture this understanding and appreciation in the children we teach. As educators we believe we have a responsibility to cultivate a culturally responsive learning community where the values of equity, equality and fairness are embedded in our everyday practice and interactions with children and their families.
