Alstonville Nestle In Education and Care Centre

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Reconciliation to us here at Alstonville Nestle In Education ad Care Centre is all about the future, and acknowledging the contributions Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and practices have on educational opportunities and outcomes for children. We believe in creating meaningful and respectful relationships which support us in teaching children the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, which are important to our national story and identity.

We believe it is our responsibility, as educators, to teach the true histories of Australia and to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in the classroom, recognising the importance of this understanding for our country as a whole. From this, we have learnt how powerful knowledge is, and how, even with limited knowledge, important it is for us to continue to learn and grow ourselves, and to teach children from a young age about inclusion and diversity.
