Goodstart Kincumber

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Goodstart Early Learning recognises and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and as the custodians of the Land on which our early childhood service is offered. Goodstart Kincumber is committed to building partnerships based on trust, respect and recognition of the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Every child and family's individuality, cultural diversity and background is respected, acknowledged and valued. We believe in creating an accessible and inclusive environment that provides opportunities for children to explore gender, race, ethnicity, language and capabilities. We support the wellbeing, cultural safety and healthy development of all peoples and aim to contribute to narrowing the gap between non-Indigenous and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by embedding cultural competences, respect and celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures into our daily practices.

Our vision for reconciliation is to belong to a community where each person's individuality is celebrated and contributes to a shared community. We aim to create and develop an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, learning from our local community and community resources. We will provide opportunities for all children to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, recognising mistakes from the past and developing connections for the future. We aspire to bring all people together, treat others with respect and work together for reconciliation.
