VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Stepping Stones Early Learning Centres recognise and understand that reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians is the responsibility of all Australians. We are committed to supporting relationships that are respectful, welcoming and inclusive for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Through our pedagogical practices we aim to honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and support our relationships and connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Our vision is to foster a strong knowledge of how culture shapes attitudes, perceptions and behaviour and strive to strengthen the cultural competency of the children, families and educators at our service. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land we share, honour and respect their continuing connections to Country, and value their guidance in our professional practice. We are committed to embracing and embedding the histories and heritages of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our everyday experience.

The main objectives of our Reconciliation Action Plan are based on the core principles of community and collaboration. Through our RAP we aim to identify and implement practical strategies that provide opportunities for children, families and educators to build and cultivate deeper partnerships and engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Scommunities, organisations, families and individuals.

Our RAP identifies existing and future meaningful and achievable actions that will support our service in embedding a reconciliation perspective of cultural awareness, sensitivity and respect. As a service, we commit to completing the actions in this plan over the next 12 months to build our knowledge, foster a foundation of learning, and provide a basis for increased commitment in the future.
