Port Broughton Area School

Reconciliation in our school community and wider community needs to be inclusive in educating and providing all students with opportunities to respectfully learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures. We are committed to developing a school plan to help educators deliver this confidently.

Educators in the school community will plan a range of respectful learning experiences across all curriculum areas for students, including the history of reconciliation in Australia    and the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples both before and after colonisation. Students, staff and the whole school community will share learnings and experiences with the wider community and strengthen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and understandings of reconciliation.

Our commitment is to enhance the professional learning opportunities available for educators and share our successes to plan and develop consistency across the school by implementing a range of actions to enhance reconciliation in our school. By providing learning  opportunities at all school events, we aim to make the wider community more aware of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and perspectives and encourage all people to share in diverse learning opportunities to promote reconciliation in our school  environment and the wider community.
