VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Marist College Canberra is informed by both the values inherent in the Gospels and in the Marist style of education. Our education and social response on our reconciliation journey draws deeply on Family Spirit and presence as we commit to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's equality and equity.

Our Marist family will continue to act on this by ensuring that all students have an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' histories and cultures at a national and local level.

Our school's vision for reconciliation is a shared responsibility to grow to be a school that nurtures and strengthens students as brothers together, where diversity of First Nations peoples and cultures is acknowledged through the provision of an environment that fosters respect and understanding of others.

Our school values the cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boys, and the histories of their Lands and peoples. It is our hope that the ongoing implementation of our refreshed Reconciliation Action Plan will continue to create further understanding and familiarity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures within the school community through genuine presence and encounter. The aim of our refreshed Reconciliation Action Plan in 2026 is to continue to identify and pursue opportunities to advance reconciliation with intentionality across our College life.

Our College will continue to work towards this through meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities founded on the respect of First Nations peoples' cultures, knowledge and beliefs.

Following in the way of Mary, we respond to the journey of reconciliation with a love of work, eager to live our mission as Marists of today.
