Who We Are: Culture (Secondary)

overview

Who We Are: Brave New Clan is a series of films developed by CAAMA Productions and Reconciliation Australia in partnership with Foxtel that follow the lives of six exceptional young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who share stories about their communities, histories and cultures in contemporary Australia.

This activity supports students to engage with the film Who We Are:

Culture, wherein six young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people describe what Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures mean to them and to their families. Their reflections provide an insight into how important language and stories are to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and also highlight the importance of passing on generational knowledge to keep culture alive.

Throughout this Narragunnawali curriculum resource, students will look at the influences of culture, community, family, kinship, spirituality, history and contemporary Australian society on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
