VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Fun Club @ Lakelands acknowledges the importance of ensuring all children have opportunities to learn about the cultures, histories, and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, in alignment with the principles of the My Time, Our Place framework.     We are committed to respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across our program to support children in developing a strong sense of identity, connection, and respect for diversity. We recognise the importance of caring for Country and aim to support children in building respectful relationships with the environment, understanding the deep cultural connections Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with the Land. Through this, we promote childrens developing awareness of sustainability and responsibility.     We strive to create culturally responsive environments where educators, children, families, and the wider community work together to explore and value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. We are committed to building genuine partnerships with local First Nations communities, recognising that these relationships strengthen childrens learning and wellbeing.      We support children, educators and families to become respectful, informed citizens by sharing true and inclusive histories of Australia, encouraging empathy, and understanding of past and present experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.     We acknowledge that this is an ongoing journey. We are committed to continuous reflection and improvement to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives are embedded meaningfully and respectfully in our practices, and will focus on ongoing learning and reflective practice.
