Our vision for reconciliation at Burwood Road Montessori Academy is to enrich, enlighten and to further educate all educators, families and children within the centre about the contributions of First Nations peoples to Australian society. Educators, families and children take this opportunity to develop a strong sense of understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and ways of life within our education program. As part of our philosophy, we value diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures within our service. For this reason, we provide and plan experiences that broaden children’s, families’ and educators’ perspectives of First Nations peoples of Australia, their cultures and contributions and encourage them to participate, whenever possible, in connecting the home and the centre and in connecting with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
