We at Nido Early School Wyndham Vale are committed to reconciliation with First Nations peoples. We understand that it is our responsibility to educate ourselves, our community and future generation about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' cultures, histories, traditions, and continuing contributions with a vision towards a culturally safe and inclusive future. We value creating unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians through early education that incorporates meaningful experiences, community engagement, and reflective practices to ensure that children understand histories, culture, and traditions in impactful, relevant, and age-appropriate ways. We will be working on creating these values by:
•Actively acknowledge our countries true histories and the Traditional Owners of the Land on which our early learning service stands. •Critically reflecting on our services steps towards reconciliation and creating learners who are fascinated by and respect the perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. •Authentically and respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our programs •Continuously building on our knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and how we can meaningfully embed these perspectives into our program. •Building relationships with local Elders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members and invite these communities to take part and help shape our service. •Creating a future where sustainability and caring for Country are a natural part of day-to-day life.
