All members of Peak Sports and Learning St John’s, including staff, children, families and our local community are dedicated to supporting reconciliation and continuing to share in learning about the importance of connecting with Country/place. This involves building positive, collective and collaborative relationships between our service community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and respectfully including key teachings/learnings about First Nations histories, cultures and contributions into our program as much as we can. A pertinent element of our philosophy is to help educate and equip individuals with lifelong skills and relationships, which can be excellently achieved through the connection to the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Connecting with community is critical to achieving our primary goal of allowing all members of our centre to develop a strong understanding of what reconciliation means and how we can actively contribute towards respectfully embedding First Nations peoples’ perspectives into our program and practice.
