OAC Maroubra recognizes and values the social narratives, legacies and conventions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Our vision is a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are actively recognised as being the First Nations people of Australia, where all Australians embrace Elders past, present and future for the wisdom and knowledge they hold and share, and emerging leaders in local communities.
OAC is contributing to an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children and families feel a sense of belonging and strong connections with community and Country; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultural identity is respected and they are comfortable in their surroundings; and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are recognised and nurtured as the creators, thinkers and doers of today and tomorrow.
We are committed to building stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations and providing respectful, responsive and culturally relevant services.
We are committed to raising awareness of current affairs and issues in the public domain that are of particular significance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the process of reconciliation. This will be done through curriculum delivery, policies and procedures, and will be integrated into the ethos of our early learning service.
