Our vision for reconciliation is to foster a united and inclusive community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' knowledge, cultures and perspectives are respected and included in all aspects of our organisation (LIVABLE).
We will foster genuine relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, promote understanding and amplify the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Through respectful engagement, collaboration, education and proactive initiatives, we acknowledge our shared history, and will bridge cultural divides through learning, unlearning and relearning and create an equitable and just society for all.
At Jacaranda Preschool we are dedicated to developing a culturally responsive environment securing solid foundations through sharing the true histories of Australia and are compassionate in building trust and respectful relationships between children, staff, families, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
We will do this by;
- valuing, embracing, nurturing, and respecting all individual’s cultural identity, language and values, and making sure everyone feels culturally safe, included, supported and a sense of belonging at Jacaranda Preschool.
- acknowledge the histories of Australia's First Nations peoples and strive for a future of understanding, respect, and reconciliation.
- continue to engage children in culturally respectful experiences in learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and perspectives to foster an environment of acceptance, equality and equity.
We acknowledge the RAP is a continual process and we will add to it and grow individually, as a team and as an organisation. Our commitment mirrors our values and service philosophy of respect for diversity, inclusion, advocating the rights of children, justice, honesty and courage.
