Goodstart North Ryde

The fundamental goal of Goodstart North Ryde's vision for reconciliation is to actively respect, value, and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia. This dedication to reconciliation can be both personal and educational. 

 Recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's First Peoples and the Traditional Custodians of this Land is an essential step on Goodstart North Ryde's journey towards deepening our understanding and fostering reconciliation. 

 We recognise and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples enduring connections to Land, sea, and community include spiritual, social, and cultural dimensions of being.  Goodstart North Ryde recognises the significant and ongoing contributions made by First Nations Peoples in Australia, and that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been educating children on this Country since time immemorial.  Goodstart North Ryde particularly endeavors to build mutual, respectful and ongoing reciprocal relationships with the Wallumettagal people of the Dharug Nation, on whose Land the Goodstart North Ryde community works, lives, and plays. In addition to committing to work alongside the Wallumettagal people, this commitment to reconciliation also acknowledges their contributions to the development of our teaching pedagogies and practices. 

Goodstart North Ryde commit to supporting our staff and educators in uplifting our knowledge and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples histories, cultures and contributions, which will help us develop and deliver respectful and inclusive early childhood education and care, curriculum, pedagogy, and practice. 

Goodstart North Ryde will put Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, contributions and perspectives at the centre of this learning curriculum, and we will support educators in understanding how to integrate these perspectives into their daily teaching practice in appropriate and relevant ways.
