Our vision for reconciliation at Beachmere Kindergarten is for sustainability in everything we do. Sustainable action and sustainable choices for a changed and reconciled future.
We recognize and respect children as learners, thinkers and theorisers, as active and competent citizens with the right and capability to contribute to society (Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, 1989). We provide opportunities for children, educators, families and communities to respect and learn from First Nations Peoples’ rich ways of knowing and doing and being.
We are committed to raising awareness about reconciliation, with the goal of encouraging all people in the broader community to embrace reconciliation. We will ensure equal and equitable access to our service for all children and families with focus on respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities as we provide a culturally safe learning environment.
Through play, educators and children will learn about the true history of Australia and celebrate the cultures of all our families, promoting a sense of understanding of, connection to, and respect for First Nations peoples and for the Land which we care for and learn and play on.
