The Yellow Cottage Scone Grammar School Preschool promotes a connecting pathway where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are valued, respected and acknowledged as the First Nations peoples of Australia.
We acknowledge that enabling children to build a connecting pathway to our community is a key element in the process of building belonging to our preschool and to nurturing relationships with families.
Our vision is to provide an increased understanding and awareness of the histories and cultures of the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we play, learn and grow. We acknowledge, appreciate and celebrate the bravery, resilience, perseverance and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
As educators our aim is to deepen our knowledge to ensure our teaching is accurate, respectful and not tokenistic in any way. We will build respectful relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and community members to gain a better and authentic understanding of the Land our preschool is on and assist us in our reconciliation process.
We aim to promote an inclusive environment where we connect pathways and everybody feels welcomed, recognised, supported with a strong sense of belonging. We will embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our everyday program and routines seamlessly and respectfully.
At The Yellow Cottage we have a strong belief that if we can educate all children within our preschool about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, traditions and cultures, they will be celebrated and valued for future generations to come, and inclusion, equality and equity will be embraced and accepted.
