Explore and Develop Epping Road's vision for reconciliation focuses on a number of main ideas that involve:
Inclusion of Australia’s First Nations peoples’ beliefs, histories and cultures, that is embedded in the curriculum and to share, inspire and heal as a community.
We have attended professional workshops for staff to learn and grow, to be inclusive and knowledgeable, and will continue to seek out these opportunities to expand our experiences and knowledge to share with the children.
We believe in reaching out to the community to engage with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members to gain insights and knowledge on the historical and contemporary culture, to incorporate these learnings? into the curriculum and physical environment at Explore and Develop Epping Road.
We will continue to support children in the early years to be, belong and become, to understand where we have come from, to see where we are going and help all children from a young age to respect and acknowledge Australia’s First Peoples, so that we can grow together as a united, healed Australia.
Our sphere of influence includes the children, staff and the wider community at Explore and Develop Epping Road. We are committed to engaging with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders, community groups and Elders to successfully create an environment of cultural respect, inclusion and awareness.
Our goal is to completely and authentically embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural ideas, beliefs and values into the curriculum at Explore and Develop Epping Road. A success of this will help the service be more culturally competent, available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and more respectful of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
Through knowledge comes understanding, through understanding comes respect, through respect we can heal our Nation.
