VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Montessori Academy Penrith and the organisation acknowledges the historical and contemporary traditions, customs, practices and continuing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge and pay respect to the Dharug people, who are the Traditional Owners of the Land on which the service stands today. We acknowledge the past and present events that have shaped Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and respectfully pass our learnings to future generations of Australia, as they will one day help shape the future. We acknowledge the rich histories and cultural diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and continue to respectfully include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, cultures and contributions into our programs and everyday practices. Through our ongoing commitment as a service and as an organisation, we will deepen our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This will help us deepen our understanding and practices so continue ensuring Australia's oldest living and continuing cultures are valued and embraced everyday. As educators we are consistently learning, unlearning and relearning about First Nations peoples, cultures and histories. Consistency: We continue our learning of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and that this is respectfully interwoven into our practices every day. Inclusion; As Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures have been historically excluded the inclusion of First Nations cultures should be valued and embraced.
