Manor Lakes Kindergarten

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Manor Lakes Kindergarten, we will continue to develop positive relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to building reciprocal relationships with the Local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Playgroup within our Manor Lakes Community centre hub. This Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Playgroup operates under the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency and educators from the group and the Kindergarten interact and visit regularly. We will begin to work together with Travis, the Aboriginal Youth Development Worker in our service. We will continue:

  • Learning about the histories and cultures of the local Aboriginal and Torres Islander community. As we live on the Wadawurrung Country, we will engage with local Aboriginal Elders and community members to help us respectfully connect with the Land and to appropriately teach the values, beliefs and traditions of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
  • Respectfully implementing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives through the curriculum requirements and goals in the Early Years Framework by working together with the local Aboriginal and Torres Islander Community.
