At Tarneit Kindergarten we believe that reconciliation and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives should be shared and visible in all learning areas and experiences within the service. It is important that reconciliation is respectfully embedded in daily practice and not just special events. We believe that the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People, should be recognised and respected as a part of our national story and identity. At Tarneit Kindergarten, educators are committed to ongoing learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and histories, and we will honour and respectfully share this learning with children and families at our service through a variety of avenues and in partnership with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. We will aim for all educators to participate in professional development opportunities to strengthen knowledge of ways to foster an equal and equitable Australia, where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People can live strong in culture. We will continue to respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples connections to Country. We are dedicated in providing learning opportunities for all children and families to build sustainable and respectful relationships between people, animals and the land and to learn how to care for the environment.
