At St Jakobi, we acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of Lands across Australia. St Jakobi Lutheran Campus encompasses a Childcare Centre, ELC and Foundation to Year 6 School. The Campus sits on Kaurna Land in the Lyndoch area on the outskirts of the Barossa Valley.
St Jakobi Childcare and ELC recognises that diversity contirubutes to a richness of our society. This also includes respectfully learning and promoting greater understanding of Aborignal and Torres Strait Islander history and ways of knowing and being.
The Early Years Learning Framework recognises that educating children about the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is vital for reconciliation. Through our educational program, we will include and embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and perspectives, and ensure we are doing this respectfully and sensitively.
Our vision is to have children leave from here with a deeper understanding of, and connection to land, culture and communty.
