Goodstart Penfield

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Goodstart Early Learning Penfield, we are committed to the process of reconciliation and supporting the children in our care to understand Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and contributions.  We want to educate ourselves about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and respectful experiences we can offer the children, so we are offering opportunities for the children that are meaningful, authentic and respectful. We will make contact and collaborate with local Aboriginal agencies to support our work and develop our understanding so we can pass this on to those in our care.

Our ultimate aim is to challenge our own, our families and children's bias towards the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and for each person to be supported to really think about why they feel the way they do, and move towards developing understanding and respect. We realise this is a big vision, and a working process, and although we are at the beginning of the process, we are committed to supporting everyone who enters our centre to play a part in the reconciliation process, and sharing our learning with them.
