Our vision for reconciliation is a community that embraces relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians, and a community culture that represents equality, equity, and honest truthful acceptance of our shared histories. Reconciliation must live in the minds and actions of all future Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful reciprocal relationships.
Within our Centre, reconciliation represents equal and equitable educational opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, and an inclusive and diverse workplace that is not just culturally safe, but culturally rich and proud. We are committed to working in a respectful way with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisations, and communities.
At Goodstart North Lakes College street we will continue to actively recognise the diverse and dynamic nature of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, histories and continuing contributions and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ deep connections with lands, waters, and communities.
By extending a better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, we will continue to develop an enriched appreciation of Australia’s cultural heritage and move towards the maturity of Australia as a nation.
This will lead to the development of an Australian identity based on mutual respect and trust between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider community, and shared support of an ongoing reconciliation journey.
