C&K Oakey Community Kindergarten

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision is to celebrate, respect and acknowledge the unique connection and place of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, especially the Traditional Owners of the Jarowair Land on which our kindergarten is situated. We aim to build genuine, respectful relationships with all children and families who attend our service. Providing an environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are respected, celebrated and not forgotten. Where education celebrates our First Nations Peoples’ languages, histories and cultures.

Reconciliation at our service means gaining a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and learning. We will reflect that knowledge at all levels of our service, including the provision of equal and equitable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and developing genuine, respectful relationships that benefit all of the children and families in our kindergarten and wider community.

At C&K Oakey Community Kindergarten, building relationships with our local Jarowair community is a priority for our service. We hope to create a space where we can learn together and from each other to grow a community that respects, honours and celebrates Country.
