Taigum Kids ELC's vision for reconciliation strives to provide an environment where children, families and educators feel welcome. We pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of the Land on which our ELC stands, the Turrbal People. We believe in the importance of respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives into our practice, pedagogy and ideology. We are committed to making meaningful and respectful relationships with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community wherever possible, to respectfully seek and actively value the First Nations community’s knowledge and advice in all areas of our service,. We believe that through the provision of equitable and equal opportunities for all children, we ensure that no children are left behind, and that all children have the opportunity to thrive within their community.
Based on our reconciliation journey and learnings so far, our next most powerful steps involve the formation of strong reciprocal partnerships with the community, where we will commit to teaching our children the importance of actively engaging with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and organisations.
As we explore our path to fulfil the crucial link between our centre and reconciliation, we will be guided by the Elders, our families, our educators, members of the community and, of high importance, our children.
