Here at Westernport Child Care Centre & Kindergarten, Cranbourne, our vision for reconciliation means strengthening the relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people and that is for the benefit of our staff, children, families and greater community. We see reconciliation as a sign of our respect to the rights of all Australians to have equal and equitable rights, positive change and bright futures.
Reconciliation to us is a journey, not something that will happen overnight. We advocate equality, equity, historical acceptance, healing and unity through making forward steps in our journey. At its heart, reconciliation is about coming together. We are open to making new connections and having these connections teach us how to further embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into out practices and our early childhood teachings to create a shared place that ensures equal opportunities for all people.
We will encourage educators to offer a variety of learning opportunities about a range of cultures and countries regardless of whether children attend from these cultures. This will be embedded all the time. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are included in all aspects of our day-to-day routines and activities.
