Young Street Kindergarten's vision for reconciliation is to embrace Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures and respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our daily curricula and interactions with the children and families.
We commit to celebrating cultural days of significance as well as embrace Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures every day by respectfully engaging with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures within our everyday programming.
By engaging our kinder community in respectfully learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures, we aspire to develop a broader understanding and acknowledgement of the First Peoples of Australia, and for this information to be extended further as the children and families move into wider community groups.
We aspire to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples within our service feel a sense of belong to our kindergarten, and endeavour to continue to build strong connections within the wider community.
