Flinders Kindergarten

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Flinders Kindergarten, reconciliation to us is considering all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and points of view in our program. We acknowledge the histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; acknowledge the strength and resilience shown by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures in the face of discrimination; and will celebrate the continued significnace of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contributions in shaping a shared sense of national unity and identity. We treat everybody as equal in our kindergarten, making sure that nobody is made to feel different. We believe that a reconciled Australia is everybody being treated equally and equitably. All families should be actively listened to and have their cultures respectfully embedded into everything including the curriculum for children to learn about each other's cultures. To support our vision for reconciliation, our aim is to build trusting and respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our community.
