At Flinders Kindergarten, reconciliation is respectfully considering and embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and points of view in our program. We acknowledge the histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, acknowledge the strength and resilience shown by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures in the face of discrimination and will celebrate the continued significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contributions in shaping a shared sense of national unity and identity. We will treat everybody equally and equitably in our Kindergarten making sure that all feel a sense of belinging. We believe that a reconciled Australia is where everybody is treated equally and equitably. All families should be actively listened to and have their cultures respectfully embedded into everything, including the curriculum, to provide meaningful opportunities for children to learn about each other’s cultures. To support our vision for reconciliation, our aim is to continue to build trusting and respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our community.
