Our Centre's vision for a reconciled Australia is that we understand and acknowledge the wrongs done to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and by learning from the past and working with the Traditional Custodians of this Land, we are committed to ensuring that these wrongs will not be repeated.  

Such understanding, acceptance and action will ensure more positive, mutually respectful relationships between non-Indigenous people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. As Australians, it should be the aim of every individual to be actively aware of the importance of reconciliation and have compassion in their hearts, minds and in all the actions carried out daily. This is necessary for Australia to be fully reconciled, and to ensure that the Land and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are respected. 

As a Centre we will achieve this  by: 

 •Acknowledging and understanding the Australia’s true histories and educating ourselves and the younger generations. 

•Building positive two-way relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous communities to overcome racism. 

•Working together as united team with a shared vision for reconciliation. 

•Respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and perspectives into our everyday practices. 

Goodstart Early Learning Aspendale Gardens is an inclusive centre that appreciates and respects all groups and cultures and incorporates learning and activities for children to grow in their knowledge of the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.
