At Goodstart Early Learning Centre Wantirna South-Cathies Lane, we aspire to be active contributors towards reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community. We aim to provide a Service that is inclusive and welcoming to all, particularly; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and community members, and where we promote and provide equal and equitable opportunities for all.
We believe this can be achieved through developing strong relationships within the community and drawing upon the histories and knowledges of the Wurundjeri and Bunurong peoples. As well as teaching our children about the importance of showing compassion for, and discovering and building on their cultural awareness of, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This relationship requires all our educators, children and families to develop a deeper understanding and respect for the cultures, knowledge and the values of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We recognise our responsibility to work towards reconciliation and the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) outlines our dedication to reconciliation by working towards developing a culturally competent Service that celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and all cultures.
