Our vision for reconciliation is that the First Peoples of Australia experience equity, equality, dignity and respect in all areas of life.
As an early learning service provider, we have an opportunity to work with First Nations communities around us in a culturally appropriate way. We recognise First Nations communities are diverse and differ in their spirituality, heritage, cultural practices, customs, languages and knowledge, therefore we see it as important to develop an understanding of each individual communities’ cultural diversity.
Our vision is to support relationships that are respectful, welcoming, mutually beneficial and cultural appropriate for First Nations peoples. This vision is based on the core principles of community and collaborations as well as our values as an organisation. Reflection on these values has led us to question and challenge what we do every day to ensure that First Nations peoples are recognised and appreciated in meaningful ways as the original Traditional Custodians of Australia and that what they have to share with all of us is used to build more ethical, interconnected and inclusive communities.
We envision that our RAP will provide practical strategies for building and renewing deeper partnership and engagement with First Nations communities, organisations, families and individuals so that we can learn from each other as we work to build a more equitable and socially just nation.
We are committed to reconciliation and our vision is for all First Nations children to participate in quality early childhood education programs. We will work with non-Indigenous educators, children and their families to value First Nations People’s cultures, histories as intrinsic to our national identity.
We will strive to ensure that by embedding First Nations perspectives into our centre-based curriculum, the children, their families and our staff will be the voices of reconciliation for the years to come.
