Our vision for reconciliation is to respect and acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation within our community and throughout Australia.
Goodstart Early Learning, Vermont Canterbury North believe that on a national, First Nations children should be able to benefit from education and learning opportunities like any other child. We truly value each Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person as the First Peoples of Australia through a deep respect and understanding.
As Australians actively working towards reconciliation, we embrace unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians by promoting equality and equity, and historical acceptance of our own shared history and removal of discrimination and negative race relations.
As a centre we also believe that reconciliation is about relationships, respect and trust. Through reconciliation we strengthen the relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for the benefit of all Australians.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan is a formal statement of commitment to reconciliation underpinned by three key themes of, relationships, respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's empowerment. By making this commitment Goodstart Early Learning, Vermont Cantery Road North aims to: Enrich the lives of our staff, children, families, volunteers and the wider community through a deeper understanding and connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to also work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to contribute their perspectives into our programs.
We will endeavour to engage and build meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, community and Elders to support the centre.
