VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Goodstart Forest Hill recognises and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and as the Traditional Custodians of the Lands on which we all live and work.

Our vision for reconciliation is for Goodstart Forest Hill educators, children and families to actively engage with reconciliation, creating a learning journey for children and families that is inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.  Through this vision we are laying the foundation for our future generations to recognise, value and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and heritages, as well as embrace humanity in a wider sense and create an equitable, fair and kind world.

Our service strongly believes in the uniqueness of each child as an individual and this will be reflected in our practices; creating environments, learning programs and partnerships that strengthen our respect for and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures as well as all other cultures connected to our service community.

Our service’s commitment to positively contributing towards a reconciled Australian society through educating children and in the process, educating ourselves, with the support of families and other community partners, will continue to shape our knowledge and will be reflected in our practices.

Our RAP will be designed to fulfil this commitment to reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all fellow peoples in Australia, and to foster equality and equity in most positive ways.
