VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Goodstart Early Learning - Meadow Heights acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of all Lands across Australia on which we come together. We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures as enduring, living cultures and pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

Our vision for reconciliation at Goodstart Early Learning, Meadow Heights is a commitment to building meaningful partnerships with the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung peoples based on mutual trust and respect. We respect and value the insights from the diverse perspectives that exist within the local First Nations communities, whilst supporting all Goodstart children, their families, employees and wider community on the reconciliation journey.

We understand the importance of meaningfully respecting the Traditional Owners, the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people every day.  We will do this by providing opportunities to implement activities which highlight the importance of First Nations peoples’ cultures and share how this contributes to our growing understanding of reconciliation through platforms such as Story Park and Facebook. We recognise the unique cultural rights of First Nations peoples. Goodstart Early Learning Meadow Heights is committed to reconciliation between both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all other peoples of Australia, and we support equity and equality in Education and employment opportunities.

Reconciliation between First Nations peoples and the broader Australian community is all about a journey of a continuous transformation. It is transformation that moves from ignorance and racism to respect from discrimination and fairness to justice and from inaction and fear to a sense of hope and belonging.

We also recognise that this culture and heritage is what helped shape our shared cultural heritage as all Australians. First Nations cultures are one of the oldest, continuous living cultures on the planet with evidence dating make well over 60,000 years. We remember that reconciliation is more than just a single act or a list of actions.

At our centre, we live and breathe reconciliation each and every day.
