The Joey Club Melbourne

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

The Joey Club Melbourne’s vision for reconciliation is to develop our understanding and knowledge of local Aboriginal cultures and histories and contemporary ways of being and belonging. We would like to connect with local Wurundjeri community groups to begin to develop relationships to enable staff, families and children to:

  • Listen and learn about local cultures and histories and contemporary ways of being and belonging

  • Develop respectful ways of building genuine relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples

  • Seek guidance on how to create a safe and welcoming space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and all visitors to our centre

  • Ensure the truthful stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are known and not forgotten

  • Respectfully engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to seek guidance on how to learn about and appropriately share knowledge, language and cultures
