VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Mossfiel Kindergarten we are committed to a Vision for Reconciliation which includes:

  • For everybody in our service and community to understand, respect and value people's differences and similarities and to be committed to our reconciliation journey.
  • To build respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians.
  • To learn from and acknowledge the past and look positively towards a shared future among non-Indigenous and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.
  • Working together collaboratively with educators, children, families, local and broader community to bring understanding and knowledge around Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, to everyone in a respectful and culturally competent way.
  • To become culturally competent and develop a strong knowledge base about local Aboriginal histories, present and future.
  • To respectfully incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and perspectives to our early learning programs on an ongoing basis and share this among our learning community (children, families, other educators, services, visitors, community members).
  • To engage, and create a culturally safe place for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, their families, visitors and community.
  • To respectfully seek knowledge, input and engagement with our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and beyond.
  • To pay respect to past, present and future Elders and Traditional Custodians and Elders and to appropriately facilitate continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • To celebrate our reconciliation achievements to date and continue to reflect on, and celebrate how we can continue progressing reconciliation in the future.
