Our vision for reconciliation is to create a community, comprising our service and the broader community of Queanbeyan and surrounding areas, that works together to develop a deeper understanding and awareness of the cultures, histories and continuing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Together, we can bring about hope, healing, and justice through openness, trust and support and by respectful education and teachings of culture, lore and language. As early childhood educators, our philosophy aims to create the pathways for the new generation to promote and create a shared sense of place through equity, inclusion, and the provision of opportunities for all people and through respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and instilling an appreciation of First Peoples’ cultures among younger generations. This will ensure our community is culturally safe for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively confirms our commitment to reconciliation.
