Our vision at Scone & District Preschool is to promote, highlight and value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, beliefs and traditions within our setting and outwardly within our community. Scone & District Preschool acknowledges and respects the diversity of the local community. We uphold the rights of every child attending our service and ensure that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples feel welcome, accepted and can obtain a strong sense of belonging within our environment. We continue to achieve this through respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives deeply throughout our educational program. This practice is driven by our continuous building of relationships with Elders in the local area. This will ensure that we continue our learning journey to become more knowledgeable and respectful as we gain a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives. Establishing these vital relationships encourages us as a preschool to feel empowered as we make our setting a culturally safe environment for all to attend. We always ensure that our teaching and play based learning opportunities expose our children to a variety of inclusive and diverse practices.
