Our aim at Explore & Develop Breakfast Point is to enrich our educator’s knowledge and support their understanding of First Nations Peoples, their heritage, culture and contributions. We have been exploring the Aboriginal Countries that surround us, and each morning Acknowledge our neighbouring clans “to the North (Wallumedagal people), to the East (Gadigal people), to the South (Cabrogal people) and to the West (Burramattagal people). Recognising how clans worked together to care for the land and its people. As a service our vision is to continue to work towards Reconciliation, walking with and talking with people we meet around our community, deepening our understanding of and building on our transformational relationships where we can share knowledge learnt and continue to embed everyday practices that provide opportunities for exploration, conversation and recognition. We hope to enhance children’s natural ability to question and investigate and use their voices to involve families and communities in conversations, working towards a shared understanding of our national story. Through our reflections our families have identified the importance of listening, respecting, displaying empathy, being harmonious, and continuously learning about First Nations Peoples. We hope to unpack these statements and form a deeper understanding of how we can make changes in our journey to reconciliation.
