At Kids Cottage our aim is to ensure individual and collective cultural awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, histories and perspectives. We want to continually improve on respectfully including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within our daily program and to meaningfully embed these perspectives in the curriculum, providing opportunities for the children, staff and families to develop authentic relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We will continue to promote a culture of respect within our centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as continue to embrace Elders past, present and future for the wisdom and knowledge they hold and share.
At Kids Cottage, we wholeheartedly commit ourselves to embark on a meaningful and transformative journey of reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non- Indigenous people. Our dedication to reconciliation is rooted in the acknowledgment of the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and we aspire to create an environment that celebrates this heritage while nurturing the potential of every child in our care by;
1. Cultivating Cultural Respect and Awareness
2. Building Genuine and Inclusive Partnerships
3. Respectful Acknowledgment of the Past
4. Fostering Interconnectedness with Nature and Land
5. Pursuing Continuous Learning and Improvement
