OAC Albert Avenue recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the ongoing Custodians of Country, and value their contributions to Australian society-historical, economic, political, social, spiritual and cultural.
We are committed to building partnerships based on mutual respect and understandings, embedding a culture of shared partnership of this RAP across all sites and business units. We are committed to driving reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all peoples of Australia to build a strong future where education and employment opportunities are equal and equitable.
We first and foremost acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this Land, the Dharug people of the Eora Nation. We believe our centre to be our Meeting Place. We believe our centre is a place where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and all children have equal and equitable space to belong, play, learn, and grow. Our meeting place strives to build on the comfort and warmth of home, activating children's confidence to explore the unique and meaningful learning environments. Our meeting place connects paths and embraces Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all people of diverse journeys in building a home rich in culture and community.
We recognise Country is a part of First Nations children that exists deep within their cultural identity. Thus, our curriculum-planning, experiences, and environments reinforces the incorporation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in all elements of learning, to understand literacy, numeracy, science and socio-emotional health and well-being.
Through the development and enactment of this RAP, we commit to developing and embedding strategies and initiatives to promote reconciliation through the active disarming of racism and injustice, committing to include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across our everyday work with children, families, and communities.
