KU Chatswood Community Preschool

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation at KU Chatswood Community Preschool is to embed knowledge and understandings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of Lands across Australia. We will do this to build children's appreciation of the longest recorded human civilisation and continuing cultures, which is something that makes Australia unique.

Educators see it as our responsibility to introduce children to Australia's deep and diverse cultural histories, with a commitment to respectfully teaching the histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ connections to Lands across the Australian continent for over 40,000 years.

We will also ensure Educators respectfully implement daily educational opportunities to teach children about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures without being tokenistic, with a goal to enhance our teachings as we seek links and build relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, inviting and engaging community members in our preschool.
