At Flaxmill P-6, reconciliation is working together to build a strong sense of community. Our community members from diverse cultural backgrounds will respectfully engage in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led programs to foster students' engagement, knowledge and understanding. We, as a community, will acknowledge the Land that we work on and respect the spiritual connections that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with the Land. We will learn from community Elders and, where appropriate, respectfully share our learnings with staff, students and families. We will engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and promote wellbeing, education and employment opportunities within the community. We will provide staff, students and families with cultural responsiveness opportunities to foster knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures. Flaxmill P-6 will continue to provide strong early opportunities and experiences in education, giving our families a great start to school. We provide strong transition programs into preschool, primary school and high school. Flaxmill P-6’s values are Respect, Honesty, Responsibility, Learning and Friendship and these are embedded into our school culture. We believe reconciliation is working together, acknowledging, celebrating the diversity of First Nations peoples and cultures and learning from one another.
