Access College, together with The School of The Air, have a vision for reconciliation to develop and maintain a culturally safe and responsive environment that recognises, respects and values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their knowledge and cultures.
Our vision for reconciliation continues to be grounded in learning about and developing a stronger understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures through education and respect, and guided by courage, generosity, integrity, and truth-telling.
We recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the First Peoples of this Country and have cared for these lands and waters for thousands of years. We respect and recognise the knowledge, understanding, strengths and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities in this Country.
As a school community, we commit to developing relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the local community in order to learn how to meaningfully include Aboriginal perspectives across our teaching and learning. We see reconciliation as part of everyday practice and acknowledge the vital role it plays in building understanding and acceptance of our true histories as we work together towards a united future.
