St. Joseph’s School, Wandal

Our vision for reconciliation at St. Joseph’s School, Wandal is guided by the charism of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop and of our motto, “To Love Is To Serve’. We recognise the need to foster mutual respect for and between all, with the aim of creating more connected, stronger communities. We aim to provide an environment in which all members of the community celebrate and show respect for the traditions and cultures of this Land and its peoples. Our school will provide an inclusive and supportive environment in which all members will feel valued and acknowledged. We envision for our children, staff and community to:  · Better understand, embrace and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and heritage. · Recognise and value both commonalities and differences between diverse cultures, with the aim of creating a stronger and more connected community. · Make a difference towards reconciliation by learning critical questioning skills and finding the courage to challenge situations where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are treated unequally or inequitably.  · Engage our school community in striving for reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the wider Australian community.
