Marsden State Schools vision for reconciliation supports a united Australia respecting the Traditional Lands , valuing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and heritages and providing equality and equity for all, so that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children have the same opportunities as non-Indigenous children. We acknowledge the wisdom, knowledge and experiences that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples bring to our school community. We continue to strengthen and nuture relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the community and respectfully learn more about First Nations peoples cultures, heritages and histories. We recognise that everyone has a role in ensuring cultural responsiveness, and we, as a school, create an environment that values, includes and supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families. Achieving reconciliation requires relearning Australia's true history and raising awareness and knowledge about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures into the wider community, acknowledging the past, respecting the cultures and traditions of First Nations peoples, and educating attitudes to promote change. Marsden State School promotes reconciliation through: * strengthening relationships by supporting and encouraging meaningful consultation with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders and Traditional Custodians * an ongoing commitment to actively including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories across the whole school community * respectfully incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives through the curriculum * providing cultural learning spaces for all students * building cultural responsiveness in staff
