At Coldstream Primary School and in our Early Years Program, our vision for the future is built on an understanding of our past, of the history of this great land and of the peoples who preserved its near pristine state for 70,000 years. We need to understand the spirit and soul of this Land through its Traditional Custodians before we can fully embrace what it is to be Australian. Essential to this understanding is the development of respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community and facilitating opportunities to learn directly from First Nations peoples. By acknowledging the BELONGING of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Country, we are BEING respectful and are BECOMING a united society. We acknowledge and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being, and appreciate how these teaching practices impact the hearts, minds and actions of all learners. We acknowledge Coldstream Primary School is part of an Education Precinct that supports the continuous cultural safety and transition of children from Birth – Secondary. As a school, it is incumbent on us to provide equal and equitable education outcomes to all children so they can be the leaders they wish to be and contribute to the reconciliation journey.
