Duffy Primary School

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision is to be an inclusive community which builds and maintains positive relationships, knowing who we are culturally, embracing our local community and sharing these understandings within our school. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we visibly respect and acknowledge the unique connection the Ngunnawal people have to the Land on which our school is situated.

We acknowledge and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We strive to gain a deeper understanding of their histories, cultures and communities through building relationships with the Ngunnawal and Wiradjuri people. It is our responsibility to learn about the value of Aboriginal and Torres Starit Islander perspectives through excursions, incursions and regular lessons in the classroom. Duffy Primary is committed to creating a community with a sense of belonging and inclusion among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, and all staff, children and families.

We embrace Elders past, present and future for the wisdom and knowledge they share. We are committed to all staff and students becoming culturally competent and embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives as we learn together. We acknowledge the unique connection that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the land. Our community is ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children and families feel a sense of belonging to the school community through inclusive and respectful relationships.
