At Melrose High School, we are committed to demonstrating respect for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through promoting reconciliation between and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians. We will do this by respectfully building relationships with the local First Nations communities. We are focused on a future that incorporates and promotes the truth-telling of Australia's true history. We strive to ensure that all students have authentic opportunities to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' cultures and histories.
As a school we encourage and support teachers to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into their pedagogy, teaching, and learning. We will ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's cultures, perspectives, and heritages are visible in our school. We acknowledge significant events and dates fostering a sense of pride and connection in the spirit of reconciliation.
