Toronto Public School's vision for reconciliation is to create valued and engaged partnerships with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, the Awabakal peoples and our community. Reconciliation to us is the co-existence of mutual respect, understanding, opportunity and positive relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians.
Our vision at TPS is for our community to value and promote inclusivity, success, and high expectations for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and all children; in a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment. We actively strengthen cross-cultural partnerships to build strong foundations for reconciliation now, and into the future. Our reconciliation partnership pathways include the co-design of our RAP and the implementation of activities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and community.
Our community is committed to strengthening reconciliation partnerships by authentically and respectfully including First Nations perspectives through quality teaching and meaningful learning; providing a welcoming, culturally safe and supported environment for all; embedding cross cultural collaboration; amplifying the role that young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people play as future Elders, leaders and carers of Country; and centring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents, carers and community members as education partners. TPS students and community will contribute to a more equitable, equal and inclusive Australia; where First Nations voices are respectfully amplified, valued and serve as a source of learning for all.
